in the valley of Valcamonica, few km from my city, started to carving extraordinary
figures on the rocks of the mountains.Animals, warriors, stilt houses, scenes of hunter
and tillage,boats,carts,gods and constellations...
More than 100000 petroglyphs,so raw and powerful.I've visited that place again last
week, and everytime is a discovery,a thrill as a prehistoric Cappella Sistina.
That people really BELIEVED in those drawings.A carved deer or an hunter was coming
from an eternal, supernatural world, maybe truer than ours.
Drawing was a bridge to the universe of spirits. Was a time of shamans and druids.
For us,from here, dipped in a ocean of images, there's no way to understand the
evocative power of those drawings. Is a lost verginity, but those ancient artists
make us remember that we can create a whole universe with our hands.
Our hands are an amazing gift.
